TAFSIR AYAT-AYAT KENABIAN: TERM NABI DAN RASUL DALAM AL-QUR’AN
Abstrak
Abstract
This paper discusses the term nabi in the Qur'an and its distinction from rasul based on scholars' interpretations. The study formulates several key issues: 1) the etymological and terminological meaning of nabi, 2) the usage of the word nabi in the Qur'an, and 3) the conceptual differences between nabi and rasul in various interpretations. This research employs a descriptive analysis method with a thematic tafsir approach. The findings indicate that the word nabi originates from the root naba’, meaning "news" or "information," and appears in the Qur'an 43 times in its singular form and five times in its plural form. Scholars such as Imam al-Raghib al-Asfahani and Mawlana Muhammad ‘Ali interpret that the message conveyed by prophets is absolutely true. Conceptually, a nabi is someone who receives revelation for personal practice, whereas a rasul is tasked with delivering the revelation to his people. This distinction has been widely discussed in various interpretations, including Tafsir Al-Misbah and Tafsir An-Nur.
